IT’S SPRING TIME!
Mini dresses from the ‘60s are currently HOT!!!
Style Tip of the Month
How to choose the right MINI dress for yourself?
- Keep prints and embellishments to a minimum. With a shape this retro, patterns or bright colors can look borderline costumey. BEST = classic colors and not-too-shiny fabrics
- Accessorize with a serious pair of shoes. Big jewelry can get in the way of the clean line of these dresses. BEST = fun flats, chunky-heeled boots, or round toe heeled pumps!
- Make sure it is not too short. Stand with your hands at your sides: The dress should extend for a few inches past your fingertips. Any shorter, and you will look too ‘skimpy’ and can’t sit!
Problem: Shy of your legs?
Tip: Wear leggings underneath! Be brave and choose a patterned pair to contrast the plain dress. Or choose a shimmering pair for a girls’ night out! And match with heels!
Tip: Wear mid-calf thighs! Show only the slim ankle…top it with fun flats!
Tip: Wear skin-tight black or dark denim jeans! Your dress is now a fashionable tunic top! Pair them with ankle boots…cool. But be careful as this is not recommended for ladies with small shoulders and well-endowed hips.
Problem: Looking a little on the chubby side?
Tip: Put on a thick waistband belt. Put it high up on your small waist area, and you will instantly get an hour-glass figure! Use contrasting or bright colors to accentuate your waist, like red or green or gold! If you are out to party, try glittering silver!
Tip: Put on a thin leather belt and pull up the dress a little on the waist, so that you will not be worried about showing your waistline – perfect on buffet day!
Tip: Wear layers. If your dress is sleeveless, try wearing a thin tee (long or short sleeve) underneath – immediately adding FUN to your look. You can also wear a turtleneck tee if the weather’s little cold and wet.
Problem: Shy of your bust size?
Tip: Avoid v-neck dresses. If you have to, layer it with a turtleneck. Go for wide neck or round neck style, or dresses with frills and ribbons on the front. This will add volume to the chest area, and also draw attention away from your assets! If you’ve got a wide neck dress, ACCESSORIZE! Put on chunky and big necklaces or chokers to add volume to the neck/chest area. If you’ve got a round neck dress, don’t accessorize on the neck, but go for chunky bangles and cuffs at your wrists!
From me to you:
Be comfortable in what you are wearing. Never buy something because everyone else is buying or wearing it or because you’ve seen it on Paris runway. YOU determine your style. ENJOY SPRING!
